Some guidelines
Outer plies: Koto and limba are suitable for the outside. Koto is harder, and it may be more suitable for hitting and counter attacks. Limba is softer and more flexible and maybe more suitable for looping.
Inner plies: Limba and ayous are comparable. The ayous 0.8mm plies will add a little more weight than the 0.5mm limba plies.
Core plies: We have balsa, ayous, and kiri. Ayous is commonly used in spin-oriented blades. Kiri is used in offensive blades and is known to reduce vibrations. Balsa blades are known for having a longer dwell time and are very light. The 5mm balsa ply may be preferred over the 3mm balsa ply unless you want to reduce the weight (for example if you have 7 plies or two core plies it may be heavy).
Carbon fiber, ALC vs ZLC: Take a look at this discussion for lots of useful insights. www.tabletennisdaily.com/forum/topics/diff-between-alc-and-zlc-any-comments-on-innerforce-layer-zlc-vs-jm-zlc.12521/
Remember: You are building a custom blade, so you can choose different types of carbon fiber or wood in different locations for your backhand and forehand.
Weight Estimator: This is only an estimate. The total weight will slightly vary and depend on the shape of the paddle you want (oversized will be heavier)
Handles: Pick the handles based on weight and appearance (below)
