Thank your for visiting Lucky Dog Custom Blades on the web!  We are a small start up dedicated to making custom table tennis blades for people looking for the best blades to match their style of play.

We were motivated by a simple question of Ben’s: Is it possible to make a blade that is excellent for offense on one side and excellent for defense on the other side?  We had no idea.  In addition to playing table tennis and helping run the local club, Will has a woodworking shop.  Ben sourced the supplies, and we got to work.

How hard could it be to make a table tennis paddle?  If you set your sights low enough, it’s not so hard!  We have made a lot of progress since our first tries.  After honing our technique we are finally satisfied with the results.  The answer to the original question?  Yes! If you use carbon fiber on one side of the core and wood plies on the other, the playing characteristics of the blade are very different from side to side.

One great question leads to lots of others.  We started experimenting with different carbon fibers and different orders of plies.  We got so much positive feedback from people who compared them to very well known (and much more expensive) brands that we decided to start up Lucky Dog Custom Blades.

We’ve got no world champions on the payroll, and we’ve got to admit our rubber stamped logo looks a bit amateurish, but we are proud of our blades, and we are pleased with the feedback we’ve received so far.
